Someone once commented on CNN that Twitter was today’s pet rock fad. I was inclined to agree but the phenomenal success of talk shows, reality shows, late-night shows and Access Hollywood made me realize that we, as a society, are very interested in what other people are doing. And Twitter, pretty much, is based on the simple question : “What are you doing?”
As a marketer, understanding human behavior and the patterns that distinguish different segments of society from each other is of tremendous interest to me. Hence, my change of heart about Twitter and making the effort to understand how people behave on Twitter rather than how Twitter operates.
The following video is one of the simplest explanations that I have ever heard on how to use a tool like Twitter. Note how the use of visual objects demystifies the Twitter enigma and actually gives us an insight into what people are interested in.
The video below is another outstanding explanation on how you can use Twitter to find people relevant to your (or your business’) topic of interest. Enjoy!
